It all happened in the same week.
I completed 125 hours of intensive training in yoga therapy
with Integrative Yoga Therapy
with Integrative Yoga Therapy
at Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health in the beautiful Berkshires of Massachusetts.
The great yoga master who brought yoga into the west from India,
B.K.S. Iyegnar,
passed away.
Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
gave a seminal address about social media.
I listened to Elder Bednar's talk on the long drive home from Massachusetts.
As he spoke the words,
“I exhort you to sweep the earth with messages filled with righteousness and truth
messages that are authentic, edifying, and praiseworthy—
and literally to sweep the earth as with a flood,”
I knew it was time.
Time to bring unity to these two worlds that I have kept separate for so long. At my therapy training I meditated upon this feeling of separateness, that I have been living in two different worlds, longing to share the teachings and light from each world with the other. My journey of faith and my journey of yoga have lifted and elevated me. My yoga practice has strengthened my faith as a Mormon, and my Mormon faith has strengthened my yoga practice.
I speak only for myself - out of longing to bring increased light into the world.
I am a Mormon.
I am a yogini.
I long for light.
Namaste, my friends.
